An insurer is judged not only by how it pays claims, but whether it can keep its services running if something goes wrong. That’s the idea behind operational resilience, and this in-depth compliance course helps UK staff at insurance companies understand what the FCA and PRA expect.
The starting point is identifying important business services and setting impact tolerances, the point beyond which disruption would cause intolerable harm. Mapping shows what each service depends on, including third-party providers and the critical third-party providers (CTPs) now under direct oversight. Scenario testing checks whether the firm can stay within its tolerances. Resilience is also a matter of people and records: clear governance, a sound communication strategy, lessons learned exercises and self-assessment documentation show an operational resilience programme is working.
