We've moved beyond compliance training being seen as an annual requirement. Regular, bite-sized learning has helped keep important topics front of mind throughout the year.

The challenge

Prior to working with Skillcast, maintaining staff engagement with mandatory compliance training was becoming increasingly difficult. While employees understood the importance of completing regulatory learning, traditional online courses could feel lengthy or repetitive, particularly for those who already had a strong understanding of the subject matter.

Bath Building Society also wanted to move beyond an annual training cycle by keeping key compliance knowledge fresh throughout the year. The challenge was to encourage regular interaction with compliance content without adding unnecessary time or administrative burden.

The solution

To improve engagement, Bath Building Society introduced Skillcast's Question of the Day, providing staff with short, practical compliance questions on a regular basis. This created more frequent touchpoints with compliance learning, making it easier for staff to engage with important topics in manageable, bite-sized sessions.

Alongside this, they implemented FastTrack, allowing employees to demonstrate their existing knowledge through an assessment before completing the course. Those who passed could complete their training more quickly, while those requiring additional support continued through the full learning experience.

Together, these features created a more personalised approach to compliance training, recognising existing knowledge, reducing unnecessary repetition and helping employees focus on areas where further learning was most valuable.

The outcomes

The combination of Question of the Day and FastTrack has made compliance learning more engaging, accessible and proportionate.

Increased engagement with compliance learning

Question of the Day has helped transform compliance training from an annual requirement into an ongoing learning experience, with regular, bite-sized interactions that reinforce key topics throughout the year.

Reduced unnecessary training time through personalised learning

FastTrack has enabled employees to demonstrate existing knowledge before completing training, reducing repetition while ensuring everyone completes the learning they need.

Improved learner experience of compliance training

Staff benefited from a more flexible training experience that recognises their existing knowledge and makes mandatory learning feel more relevant.

Strengthened continuous compliance awareness

Regular reminders and bite-sized learning have helped staff stay connected with important compliance topics outside annual training cycles.
