Implementing Consistent and Effective Anti-Bribery Training at EDF Energy
EDF chose Skillcast when they needed to introduce an online anti-bribery module, rolling out a simple yet interactive course.
About the company
EDF Energy supplies electricity and gas to homes and businesses in the UK. They’re Britain’s biggest generator of zero-carbon electricity. EDF needed to train around 11,000 employees in response to new bribery legislation. They partnered with Skillcast to create unique anti-bribery e-learning.

The challenge
As part of ensuring adequate procedures in relation to the UK Bribery Act 2010, EDF Energy required around 11,000 employees to complete a learning module and an assessment. The department involved had not used e-learning before and was keen to have ownership and control of the content.

The solution
The Internal Controls team decided to develop an e-learning module based on Skillcast's ready-made Anti-Bribery course.
Content development
The team used Skillcast Author, our self-customisation tool. To assist, they had a Webex training session with their Skillcast consultant.
EDF’s Internal Control Operations Manager added, “After just one hour of training, we were able to make all the changes we needed to reflect our policies and procedures. The system was very easy to use and provided us with significant flexibility.”
Within two weeks, the team tailored the course to meet their requirements and used the Skillcast project management functions to set up a group of reviewers and email them direct links to the content from within Skillcast Author. As a result of these efficient systems, it was ready for release in just four weeks.
Implementation
The course was delivered to EDF Energy in SCORM format for roll-out on their Moodle platform. The Skillcast technology team worked with third-party Moodle operators to ensure smooth integration.
The outcomes
Key benefits of the e-learning course included:
- Consistent training and assessment of a large number of employees
- Quick, easy and efficient implementation
- Cost-effective
- Employee engagement and positivity
Ability to deliver consistent training and assessment to a large number of employees quickly and cost-effectively.
We have had excellent feedback on our anti-bribery training from our Executive team and all levels of the organisation. Our Chief Financial Officer was particularly impressed by the course’s simplicity and interactivity. Many employees also commented on this, and the benefits of using e-learning as a cost-effective way to reach the masses. As a result of this positive feedback, we are progressing to develop more compliance courses with Skillcast.
