June 2026 - Course Updates

FCA Compliance Library

We have released a new in-depth course called "Short Selling Regulations". This course explains the FCA's new UK short-selling regime (SSR), which replaces the previous EU framework and introduces the UK Short Selling Sourcebook. With the new SSR, the FCA is zeroing in on accurate reporting, consistent calculation methodology, strong operational controls, sound systems and governance, and clear supervisory visibility. The rule changes come into effect on 13 July. This course will prepare you to recognise when the UK SSR applies; identify what counts toward a net short position and an adequately covered short sale; understand when FCA reporting thresholds are triggered; and explain the difference between FCA reporting and public disclosure.

FCA Compliance Library

We have launched a new full-length course in the FCA library called "Understanding Failure to Prevent Fraud (FTPF) in Financial Services". This course enables learners to understand how the FTPF offence works, what it means for their firm, and how they can help reduce risk by recognising fraud and supporting prevention procedures. We've also launched a managers' version of this course. While it shares the same core content as the all-staff course, it also includes additional material tailored specifically for managers, including extra pages and exercises, that reflect the responsibilities and decisions managers are more likely to face.
 
We have added two new microlearning modules to our FCA Compliance Library. These are in the same format as the Compliance Bites with a short video followed by an Assessment test: 
  • The first module is on the topic of "Car Finance Mis-selling" and its description is as follows: The Financial Conduct Authority banned discretionary commission arrangements in car finance due to concerns about unfair interest rates. This training explains the impact of the ban, the rise in consumer complaints and the steps lenders and brokers must take to ensure fair financial practices.
  • The second module is called "SDR and Investment Labels". It accompanies the full-length course on "Sustainability Disclosure Requirements (SDR) and Investment Labels" in the FCA Library and its description is as follows: Sustainability-related claims in financial products must be clear, transparent and backed by evidence. This training explores the Financial Conduct Authority's Sustainability Disclosure Requirements and how to ensure compliance while avoiding misleading statements.

FCA and Insurance Compliance Library

We have added six new microlearning modules on the SM&CR Conduct Rules to our FCA Compliance and Insurance Compliance libraries. These are in the same format as the Compliance Bites with a short video followed by an Assessment test. The modules accompany the full-length courses on "Meeting the Conduct Rules" in the FCA and Insurance libraries.
 
The six modules are titled as follows:
  • Conduct Rule 1: Act with Integrity
  • Conduct Rule 2: Act with due skill, care and diligence
  • Conduct Rule 3: Be open and cooperative with the FCA, the PRA and other regulators
  • Conduct Rule 4: Pay due regard to the interests of customers and treat them fairly
  • Conduct Rule 5: Observe proper standards of market conduct
  • Conduct Rule 6: Act to deliver good outcomes for retail customers.

In the FCA Handbook Library, several courses have undergone their annual update. The Insurance Compliance Library has also received its annual course updates. These updates incorporate expert reviews, refreshed news stories, and improvements to course activities and scenarios. The revised courses are CASS 5 - Client Money - Insurance Distribution Activity, CASS 8 - Mandates, Ethical Standards in Insurance and Investment, Financial Crime Prevention, and Good Outcomes for Vulnerable Customers.

In the Essentials Library, multiple courses have been updated as part of the annual review process. January 2025 - Course Updates

Here's a list of all the course titles updated or added during January 2025

In the FCA Compliance Library, all courses in the OTS FCA Compliance Library have undergone a comprehensive design upgrade. This includes transforming simple text and photo pages into more interactive and engaging layouts, incorporating additional images on selected pages, updating all legacy elements to the latest fully accessible versions, and applying a new skin design across all courses. These changes aim to improve usability, accessibility, and the overall learner experience.

The Insurance Compliance Library has seen a revision in course titling to reduce confusion across different versions. The OTS course previously titled "Whistleblowing in Financial Services" has now been renamed "Whistleblowing in Insurance" within the Insurance Compliance Library, while the version in the FCA Compliance Library will continue to be called "Whistleblowing in Financial Services."

In the Compliance Essentials Library, the courses "Information Security" and "Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing" have received their annual updates. These updates include expert reviews, refreshed content, and updated activities to align with best practices, alongside improvements to readability. The same updates have been applied to the Global Compliance Library, ensuring consistency across different compliance frameworks.
