Before working with Skillcast, we were impressed by the promises of quality service. But only once we started working with them did we realise how much that could mean. The team is exceptionally responsive, capable and committed to excellence, and will try new things. Skillcast’s extremely customisable system means they often deliver things way beyond what we originally expected or set out to achieve. Skillcast has been the ideal partner for our PRIDE journey!
Talent Development Business Partner
Kentro Capital
The challenge
Kentro created a new internal talent management framework to cohesively address performance planning, reviews and individual development experiences (PRIDE). However, their existing compliance training provider didn’t support customisation and was hosted on a generic learning platform. Moreover, with the existing vendor:
- Registration of new learners and learning assignments was manual
- Service and reporting options were limited
- Offline training tracking and continuing professional development (CPD) recording weren’t possible
With a limited budget and high costs for the existing supplier, there was little scope for Kentro to improve the situation or successfully implement their PRIDE strategy.
Some key statistics
The solution
After reviewing four potential suppliers, Kentro decided Skillcast offered the most content and functionality, all the required learning modules, and was within their existing budget. A bonus was the ability to implement single-sign-on with a personalised interface and customisable learning modules.
The introduction of the Skillcast Compliance Portal, including our Learning Management System and Training360 coincided with Kentro’s new talent strategy, which extended significantly beyond their former compliance-based learning agenda.
Training 360
Skillcast's Training360 tool made it easy for Kentro to capture offline learning in one place, even formal CPD hours. It offered the following:
Integrated offline activities
Activities were linked to existing training records through a simple dropdown menu.
Automatic CPD hours logging
Whenever employees completed their e-learning on the Compliance Portal, time spent was stored.
Easy CPD activity logging
Employees could effortlessly record items with the necessary supporting evidence.
The outcomes
Using Skillcast's capability to deliver company-specific branding and labels, Kentro launched a tool to deliver the new talent strategy.
Their PRIDE philosophy and language appeared consistently in communications, tiles and tabs, making navigation and engagement more intuitive. Additional benefits of using Skillcast’s Compliance Portal included the following:
Training 360
- By automating assignments based on preset criteria and allocating new joiner onboarding, learning paths became consistent and efficient, no longer requiring manual intervention from the People Experience team.
- After introducing an optional learning library late in the first year and development events in the second, related activities increased by 313%.
- By the end of the second year, around 18 topics were addressed in mandatory learning paths, and the optional learning library included 197 modules.
CPD Tracking Tool
- Tracking automation improved efficiency, while classification of CPD record types increased the accuracy of manual records – for example, in the first partial year of CPD tracking via Skillcast, the number of records rose by 23%, and in the second full year, by 268%.
- Hours tracked in the first year doubled the previous figure, and in the second year, increased by a further 169%.
- After starting with three CPD schemes, Kentro responded as demand changed, rising to eight to accommodate variations in professional bodies' and regulators' expectations in different territories.
Events Management Module
- With the introduction of the Skillcast Events Management System (EMS), the time needed to manage online and face-to-face corporate training interactions fell significantly, enabling the People Experience team to increase delivery of developmental events by 275%.
- Over half of Kentro's employees participated in live learning and development events that year, an estimated increase of over 100%.
Compliance Registers
- Our Compliance Registers feature offered Kentro valuable functionalities, including auto-approve and audit trails.
- Following its introduction, there was a significant increase in applications and approvals for employees pursuing advanced education, alongside a revised professional education funding policy. In the first year, applications and approvals grew by 437%.
- Skillcast Compliance Registers for performance tracking enabled records (for example, achievements against objectives) to be tracked more frequently and efficiently. The tool contributed to clearer and more consistent interim and annual performance review records.
