An Introduction to Solvency UK

  • 30 Minutes
  • For all staff
  • jurisdiction UK

By the end of this introductory training for insurance staff, you’ll understand how Solvency UK, the revised prudential regulation for insurers, works. The course explains the three pillars of the Solvency UK rules, and you’ll understand how PRA oversight, insurance supervision, and the principle of proportionality apply.

Pillar 1 covers capital requirements: technical provisions, own funds, MCR, SCR and internal models, plus quality of capital (Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3) and the ladder of intervention. Pillar 2 focuses on governance, including the risk management system, risk register, the ORSA and ORSA policy, and the key functions (compliance, actuarial, internal audit, and fit and proper requirements). Pillar 3 addresses reporting and disclosure (SFCR, NST, QRT reporting templates).
